Robert’s Story: Growth
As told by: Robert, Vice President, End User Services
My EI story began in 1999 as a Field Service Technician, and in the more than two decades that I have grown and advanced into my current role as Vice President, End User Services, it seems like I have done all there is to do in between.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without a company that believed in me, my belief in the values of the company, and belief in myself. The majority of our team is made up of technical professionals who have worked their way up through various roles, giving them a deep understanding of the challenges others face. This experience creates a collaborative environment where everyone is ready and able to offer guidance and support.
I love working at a place like EI where each person truly makes a difference. It’s fulfilling and challenging, and the ultimate reward for our efforts is opportunities for growth and development.
Kristine’s Story: Value & Flexibility
As told by: Kristine, Senior Vice President
My EI Story began in 2016 when I told then-CEO Mike Locher, “If you don’t want to hear my opinions, then don’t hire me.” So clearly, EI is a place where I have always been valued for my unique perspective, what I bring to the table, and my hard work. Nearly a decade later and in a leadership position, I still feel valued daily and work to help others at EI feel the same way.
My EI story has had many more chapters than I would have ever thought. I appreciate how I haven’t been restricted here at EI, like I would have been at larger corporations. Here, I have been able to make an impact and improvements across the organization, not just within my team.
I appreciate that my EI story is able to coexist so seamlessly with the story of my life which centers around my beautiful girls. Working for a remote first company gives me the flexibility to simultaneously focus on family and career – holding down both my second job as chauffeur [to my kids] and my real job at EI.
Sean’s Story: Innovation
As told by: Sean, Infrastructure Architect
Since my EI story began in 2021, it has been with a fulfilling sense of purpose. As a Network Architect, I’m not just maintaining systems, I’m helping design the backbone of how our clients operate, securely and efficiently. Every environment presents a new challenge, and EI gives me the platform to think critically, design smart, and execute with confidence.
Throughout my story, EI has invested in me, both through exposure to real-world, enterprise-scale projects, and through the autonomy to grow professionally. I’m proud to be part of a team that doesn’t settle for “good enough” and consistently pushes for excellence in both technology and service delivery.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my EI story has been the opportunity to collaborate with other technology professionals who are just as passionate about solving complex problems as I am. Because we work with a wide variety of clients across industries at EI, I’m constantly encountering diverse environments and exposed to new technologies, which is one of the most exciting parts of my role.
Justin’s Story: Growth
As told by: Justin, Network Engineer II
My EI story has had many different chapters as I have worked my way up from the Service Desk since 2008. At every step of my journey, it has hands down been the incredible people I’ve worked with that have most encouraged my own success and growth.
I specifically recall late nights on the Service Desk when I found myself asking the on-call engineer questions and receiving thoughtful responses. Now, years later as the Network Engineer in the scenario, I try to pass along the same knowledge to the next generation of Service Desk technicians.
I love learning and love to pay it forward, so working for a company that has both encouraged me to get technical certifications and paid for them has made my EI story a fulfilling one. I am happy to work for a company who cares about me and my story. Even before we were a remote-first company, EI supported me working remotely in order for me to move cross-country closer to family, proving to me they valued me as a person and employee.
Von’s Story: Growth
As told by: Von, Senior Security Engineer
My EI story has been a decade in the making since I started on the Service Desk on the overnight Shared/Elite Team in 2015. Over these years, passion has been at the heart of my story, fueling my success and growth as a Security Engineer.
I come from a military background where we would often say “one team, one fight”, and I firmly believe that no one can do everything alone. I wouldn’t have been able to grow as I have here at EI if it weren’t for the extremely talented individuals I get to work with and learn from.
My EI story has been an exciting one. It is refreshing to work on new things every day. Each day is different, and being able to work on so many varied things has allowed me to grow much faster than I would if I were anywhere else.
